A large 2.4m oak bee-post made & installed.
About The Project
A large 2.4m solid oak bee-post, designed and installed in a Norfolk garden to provide a natural habitat for solitary bees.
The Client’s Vision
Our client was looking for a striking, natural feature for their garden that would be both a sculptural focal point and a benefit to local wildlife. Passionate about creating an eco-friendly garden, they wanted a unique piece that would actively support the declining population of native bees by providing a safe place for them to nest.
Our Handcrafted Joinery Solution
This stunning 2.4m bee-post is crafted from a single, solid piece of oak, creating an eye-catching and durable garden structure. The post is not just for decoration; it provides a vital habitat for solitary bees, whose populations are in decline across the UK.
Following ecological guidance, we drilled hundreds of holes of varying sizes deep into the oak. This provides a range of nesting options for different species of solitary bees, which are essential, non-aggressive pollinators for gardens and crops. Installing a bee-post is a small but meaningful way to help the local ecosystem thrive.
Premium Materials and Finishing Touches
We selected a substantial piece of solid oak for this project, chosen for its longevity and natural resistance to the British weather. The oak is left untreated to weather naturally, allowing it to blend beautifully into the garden environment over time. Our team managed the full installation, ensuring the bee-post was securely positioned in a sunny, sheltered spot to create the ideal habitat for its future residents.
