A pair of solid oak balcony doors made & fitted for a customer in Norwich, Norfolk.

About The Project

A pair of solid oak balcony doors, handmade and fitted for a customer in Norwich.

The Client’s Vision

Our client in Norwich approached us to replace their existing balcony doors, which were inefficient and no longer suited the character of their property. They required a durable, secure, and beautiful solution that would provide excellent weather protection while maximising natural light. The key was to create something truly bespoke that would last for decades.

Our Handcrafted Joinery Solution

Working closely with the client from their initial design, the Perkins & Co team crafted this stunning pair of solid oak doors in our Hinderclay workshop. Each door was built using time-honoured joinery techniques to ensure superior strength and a perfect fit.

The design focuses on clean lines and the natural beauty of the timber. We incorporated high-performance Aquamac 21 draught seals within the frame, making the doors completely weatherproof and eliminating draughts—a crucial feature for the unpredictable British weather.

Premium Materials and Finishing Touches

For a project of this quality, material choice is paramount. We selected high-grade, solid oak for its renowned durability and beautiful grain. The doors were fitted with energy-efficient double-glazed units to enhance thermal performance.

To protect the timber and highlight its natural character, we applied multiple coats of Osmo UV Protection Oil, which prevents sun damage and ensures the oak retains its rich colour.

As a final, custom touch, we sourced and seamlessly integrated a matching oak catflap into the design, demonstrating our commitment to meeting every specific need of our clients.
